Vinted Members Express Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Response
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Required Changes
Another shopper, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
