A extended cruise through Australia has been cancelled following the death of an older lady who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a distant coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with other travelers from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the party for a rest. The ship departed without her and returned later that day after the ship staff discovered the woman was unaccounted for.

"From the little information we have been provided, it looks that there was a lapse of responsibility and ordinary reasoning," she said.

She further stated that she wished the examination would be able to determine what "the company should have done that might have preserved Mum's life".

"We understand from the investigators that it was a exceptionally warm afternoon, and mum fell ill on the hill climb," she stated.
