Approximately 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the area, bringing strong winds reaching 109 kilometers per hour.

Large Hailstones and Broad Damage

Residents reported large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that various areas across Queensland had been affected by large hailstones.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Storm Challenges

Meanwhile, approximately one thousand residents in the southern state also faced power outages after the capital city experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.

Rescue organizations received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, mainly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At one point on the previous day, more than twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were without power.

Weather Forecast

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both regions.

Medical Alert

Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.

This warning comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to significant health impacts in the state.
